A Legacy of hope , leadERSHIP & Community Impact
Closed by the Muncie Housing Authority in 2020, Munsyana Park was once a vibrant hub for youth activity and community participation. Now deteriorated, its revitalization has surfaced as a community priority . The restoration of the park's basketball court, benches, and mural will be a blessing to the city and will infuse much-needed energy, camaraderie, and engagement in an already underserved space in the city. The new park will honor the late community leader Marwin Strong - a powerful advocate for youth, anti-violence, and second chances. The Marwin Strong Park will serve as both a physicial space for recreation, and a symbolic tribute to the values of resilience, redemption, and leadership.
why this matters
This is about more way more than basketball. The Marwin Strong Park will be a vehicle for community development, youth empowerment, and connectivity.
Revitalizing outdoor courts means improving public infrastructure in neighborhoods, making parks safer and more attractive, and offering positive alternatives for young people.
